We were lucky enough to stay for 2 nights in the rooms above the restaurant. We had a beautiful room and lovely bathroom – GREAT shower!! 🙂 And a fabulous breakfast – freshly prepared fruit salad, freshly cook Full English. Beautiful!!
The welcome and service we received we absolutely superb. And Scarlett – what an absolute star – she really looked after us.
We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Restaurant 43 to other. Go stay there, eat there – you’ll love it. – AandS-Lymm – TripAdvisor
We stayed for two nights at Restaurant 43, our bedroom overlooking arguably the largest village green in the country, 43 acres, hence the name of the restaurant. It is really a misnomer to call it a bed and breakfast, as the bedroom was at least on a par with any 4 star hotel in London, the main difference being that every item in the room was of the highest quality and brand spanking new. The breakfast could quite easily fill you up for the rest of the day, you choose what you would like from a menu provided the night before. The evening meal was excellent, all freshly cooked, no microwaving, and the furnishing in the restaurant was very modern, comfortable and spotlessly clean. All the family are involved in the business, father even did all the structural work entailed in converting from a shop to a restaurant. Expansion is afoot, as negotiations are under way on a cottage next door. I shall definitely return – John F – TripAdvisor
We actually stayed at Restaurant 43 in one of their recently opened ’boutique’ guest rooms. The room was first class. One of the most comfortable beds I have ever found in any hotel or guest room. Everything was clean and comfortable.Had a really good night. The setting was lovely, overlooking the village green at Great Bentley, which is the largest village green in the world, or so I am told. We hadn’t booked to eat at the restaurant, but the proprietors managed to squeeze us in. The food matched anything we have had at one of Jamie Oliver’s or Rick Stein’s restaurants, but it was half the price. These guys could charge much more for what they offer, but I am not complaining at the price, especially as we were also given a 10% discount as we were staying the night.
This location is absolutely ideal for exploring rural north east Essex, which is a very attrative part of the country. You don’t even need to have a car, as there is a railway station in the village. I would recommend this place for a romantic weekend for couples! – Gill W – TripAdvisor
